Do You Know When to Use Sublimation Transfer Printing - and When Not To?

Hi~ Good afternoon, my dear friends! Today is cloudy in Nanjing and feel very cool. Now come into today's topic. Sublimation transfer printing is wide used in our daily life. But this technology is not suitable for anything, you should clear know when to use it – and when not to. Now read and follow my this article, I will tell you more.

Designs that work well with Sublimation printing
The method works particularly well on quirky, dramatic and almost ridiculous designs- a massive trend over that last couple of years, seen in both high and low end stores.

Now this T-shirt probably fits under quirky, dramatic AND ridiculous, and sublimation printing has allowed for the full effect to take place. The T-shirt is completely covered by design and uses a vibrant range of colours.
The repeated design below also works well, again because of the full coverage aspect of the design, the pattern of the print is carried on all around the T-shirt, just using the ends of the garment as natural finishing points.

Another type of design that works particularly well with sublimation printing, is photography prints. The method allows you to fill the whole surface with the photograph, instead of just placing it on the front of the garment in a rectangular fashion.

Sublimation also works well when your garment requires a number of different logos or designs. With traditional printing, you may be charged for each separate logo application – whereas, with sublimation, a large number can all be incorporated and printed in one go.

Designs that don’t work with Sublimation Printing

Designs with block colours or designs that require excruciatingly exact placement may not work as well with sublimation printing. With designs that involve slogans, DTG (direct to garment) printing can work better. DTG printing is essentially like using a normal printer, but just for T-shirts. So the garment is ran through a special flatbed printer and the designs are applied.

If you only need one logo in the centre of your garment, sublimation may not be the ideal way to go, purely because it’s generally more expensive to ‘print all over,’ than it is to apply one logo front and centre.

It’s important to note that, when using Sublimation printing, the finish is smooth and a part of the fabric. If you’re picturing a shiny vinyl finish (like a RUN DMC T-shirt) you should choose screen printing or something similar.

One of the keys to using sublimation printing effectively is knowing the methods limitations and picking a design wisely. Please know more knowledge about sublimation printing you can visit www.feiyuepaper.com. And know the pros and cons of sublimation printing you can visit last article. We can help you to be able to decide if the design you have in mind would work with sublimation printing, or if you are better off choosing DTG or screen printing.

Whis is Sublimation Printing? Do you Know the The Advantages and Disadvantages of it?

Hello, good afternoon, my dear friend! What is "Sub-li-what-now?!"? Today's topic is about sublimation transfer printing. If you’ve ever wondered what this strange-looking word  actually means – then wonder no more. it’s a high-tech printing process for apparel. Today we’re going to pick it apart – we’ll cover what it is, how it works, discuss the pros and cons. please read this article follow me!

What is sublimation?

Let’s start with the broad strokes. What exactly is sublimation?
In simple terms, it’s a method of printing that transfers a design into a material or fabric using ink and heat.

In the world of apparel, it’s a game changer in that it allows whole garment prints – designs that go seam-to-seam.

The Sublimation Printing Process
So how does it work? Well, sublimation printing uses heat to essentially bring sublimation transfer ink and fabric together as one.
First, a design is printed onto special paper. The inks that are used turn into gas when brought under heat, then combine with the fabric and permanently print onto the fabric. The effects are permanent and less prone to fading, as the sublimation ink is embedded in the fabric or substrate rather than simply laying on top like a normal print.

The process is almost like a tattoo, but instead of for your skin, it’s for your chosen product. The heat opens up the pores of the fabric, then with the applied pressure the dye sublimation ink cools and returns to a solid form.
The result is a permanent, full colour image that won’t crack, peel or wash away from the substrate, the process allows the ink to go from a solid to a gas without turning to liquid, a bit like dry ice, the conversion is initiated by the heat and controlled by pressure.

This quick and effective digital print method is growing in popularity for smaller batch orders and those designs that rely on the details. The process is also known as ‘all over printing’ as it allows you to choose a design that can literally go from seam to seam.

The advantages and disadvantages of sublimation printing
The Advantages
The most exciting upside when it comes to this method is purely the freedom you have with your designs, which is not always offered by other methods.

On one side of the spectrum you can go as crazy as you like. Why not print a whole T-shirt that looks like a burger? Or a cat flying across (a beautifully printed) galaxy background?

Equally, you might want to keep it classy with a photo of a famous skyline or landscape. The possibilities are almost endless, which will keep you coming back for more.

The longevity of the design is a plus point, with a design that won’t crack, peel or fade. Even after going through the washing machine countless times, your garment will never be demoted to the back of your wardrobe!
Sublimation printing is suitable for small batch orders, seam-to-seam designs and garments with a large number of design variations and applications.

The Disadvantages
The Cons lay mostly with the choice of materials. Sublimation printing is only suitable for garments that include polyester (100% polyester or polyester blend). Although sublimation is possible on other materials such as cotton, the image will not be permanent as it is on ‘man made’ fabric and it isn’t recommended.
If you wanted to go for the vintage/distressed look, which is all the rage right now, choosing a fabric with a lower percentage of polyester in it would give you that finish.

Another potential problem to watch out for is white creasing. Sublimation works by printing a design into white fabric, and if there are areas of the garment that are unreached by the design, they’ll stay white. This can be caused by accidental folding or small amounts of moisture that accumulate on the transfer paper.

Okay, this all I tell you about the sublimation printing, if you want know more, please contact us online at any time.

Does Fabric Need to Be 100% Polyester for Dye Sublimation Printing?

Hi~ Nice to see again, my dear friends! Have you learn about sublimation printing? Which kind of fabric suitable for print? And does fabric need to be 100% polyester for dye sublimation printing? For these a series of questions. If you don't know the answer chearly, my this artical could help you!

While you do need at least 60% polyester fabric to successfully dye sub print, it is better to use 100% polyester because you will attain a superior print if 100% of the fabric accepts the dye when it enters gas form and is inducted into the open polymer pores.

What you may not know is how this process works and why polyester fabric is the best product for dye sublimation, whereas cotton, wool, and even nylon will not work for this type of printing.

Starting with the dye, it is necessary to know that the dye is not the same type of sublimation ink as inkjet inks which use the CMYK (cyan-magenta-yellow-black) ink set, but instead, use a CMYO dye set (cyan-magenta-yellow-overprint clear) where the clear, when it is printed on the dye sublimation transfer paper, turns to black and transfers that way.

Once the paper is printed, it is joined, print side to whichever type of material you are using, then put through a set of heated rollers. The heat must be in excess of 370º F (190ºC) to cause the dye to be converted into a gaseous form, and also to cause the polymer’s cells to open as they expand to accept the now gaseous dye into the cells.

Once this process has taken place, the fabric cools, the cells close, and the color is permanently locked into the fabric in continuous tones of beautiful color, similar to a photograph’s tones.

Without the cellular construction of the polyester fabric and it’s polymeric qualities, it would not be possible to print using dye sublimation. So, the more polymers, the better. So the answer is, of course, yes and no. We recommend using 100% polyester, but it’s not an absolute requirement.

Okay, These all above are my share about what kind fabric suitable for subliamtion transfer printing. If you have any other needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you. Thank you for your reading.

Sublimation Printing And UV Printing-----Which is Most Suitable for You?

Hi, Nice to see you. Second snow in Nanjing will coming soon, makes me so excited. Yesterday I have shared you the difference between the sublimation ink and pigment ink. Also I said that for the different printing solutions we need to use the different ink. Then today keep following the digital inkjet printing. I will share you the difference between the sublimation printing and UV printing. Read the following and get to know which printing solution is more suitable for you.

Ink for Printing
The first side for introduce is the printing inks. We all know every printing solution can not leave the inks. Then do you know the difference between the sublimation ink and the UV ink?
Sublimation ink also call heat transfer ink, it is used for the printing products, the transfer ink will be show on the fabric after heat transfer by the high temperature, so it is very necessary material on heat transfer business.

UV inks dry through a photo mechanical process. The inks are exposed to ultra-violet lights as they are printed, immediately turning from a liquid to a solid with very little evaporation of solvents.
The biggest difference between the sublimation ink and the UV ink is that the sublimation ink can permeate into the sublimation paper and the textiles directly. While the UV ink almost no absorption of the ink into the paper stock.

Printing Process
Sublimation printing always be combined with the sublimation transfer. People mostly print the patterns they want onto the sublimation paper and then the patterns can be transferred from the sublimation paper onto the heat transfer machine. In the whole process, after you print the patterns onto the sublimation paper successfully, sometime you need to wait a minute so that the inks printed onto the paper can get dry.

While the UV printing uses ultra-violet lights to dry or cure ink as it is printed. As the printer distributes ink on the surface of a material (called a "substrate"), specially designed UV lights follow close behind Originally developed for quickly drying gel nail polishes during manicures, ultraviolet light applications quickly expanded into industrial and commercial markets.

Environmental
Another factor that we need to take care is the environment. The UV ink have a high drying speed. But sometimes  if the ink cannot be dried totally, it will do harm to human bodies. Then from the side of the adhesion of the inks, the sublimation ink may be better. Because the UV ink can not permeate into the printing materials. And if you use it for the clothes or T-shirt produce, it can do harm to our health.

Application
Just from the factor above we can see that the sublimation printing can mostly be used for the textile, fabric printing and transferring. You can use it for the T-shirt, sportswear or the home interior produce.
While the UV printing can be used for the various printing effects with special treatments such as refraction and grinding.
Okay, These all above are my share about the difference between the sublimation printing and UV printing. If you have any other needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you. Thank you for your reading.

How Much Do You Know about Sublimation Printing And Screen Printing

Hi, Nice to see you. The heavy snow has stopped. Everywhere all white, looks so beautiful. In china snow means it will bring a good harvest for the new year. So best wishes for you. Yesterday I have share you there common problems in your digital inkjet printing and give you some ways about how to solve it. In the printing industry, it can be mainly divided into the screen printing and the sublimation printing. Then today in order to late you know more about them I will share you more difference about them.

Screen Printing
Screen printing refers to the use of screen as a base, and through the method of plate-making , made a printing plate with graphic screen . Screen printing consists of five main elements: screen printing plate, scraper, ink, printing stations and substrates. Use the screen printing plate graphic part of the mesh the ink can through it, non-graphic part of the mesh can not be printed through the basic principles of ink. Printing in one end of the screen printing plate into the ink, with a scraper of ink on the screen printing plate to impose a certain pressure on the other side at the same time toward the screen printing plate moving at a constant speed, the ink is moving scraper from the graphic Part of the mesh extrusion to the substrate.

Then the screen printing also have many characteristics. Firstly, the screen printing have strong adaptability.Screen printing can not only print on the plane, but also in the curved surface, spherical and concave and convex printing on the substrate. What's more, screen printing can not only printing in hard objects , but also in the soft printing, free from the limitations of the texture of the substrate. Secondly, it has strong sense of three-dimensional and light fastness. Apart from this the screen printing also have large printing area, today  the largest screen printing products up to 3 meters × 4 meters, or even larger.
But is also have the disadvantages. For example, this technology is not suitable for the small orders and sometimes if you need more different colors and your cost will be higher. Secondly, this technology is not environmentally friendly and the technology is relative complexity.

Sublimation printing
Sublimation printing is use the special sublimation paper, sublimation ink and the sublimation printer for printing. A dye-sublimation printer is a computer printer which uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as a plastic, card, paper, or fabric. The sublimation name was first applied because the dye was considered to make the transition between the solid and gas states without going through a liquid stage. This understanding of the process was later shown to be incorrect. There is some liquefying of the dye. Since then, the process is sometimes known as dye-diffusion, though this has not eliminated the original name. Many consumer and professional dye-sublimation printers are designed and used for producing photographic prints, ID cards, clothing, and more.

Same as the screen printing, the sublimation printing also have many advantages. Firstly, your patterns printed and transferred are permanent and can not peel or fade also the colors are brilliant and vividly. Secondly, in your process of printing you don't need to worry the dye build up on the fabric. The image can be printed all over the entire item, with no difficulty in printing all the way to the edges.
Also the disadvantages are as follows, sometime you should take a high cost to by a high quality sublimation printer, or your printing speed will be low and your working effect will not better enough. Then any creases in the apparel during printing leave blank spots behind. And the printing area is limited, the  print range depends on the width of your printer.Mostly the width of the sublimation printer are 1.2m, 1.8m, 3.2m.

Okay, These all above are my introduce about the sublimation printing and screen printing. Also the share about the advantages of them. If you have any needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you with the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you.Thank you for your reading.

One Step T-shirt Product Introduction with Sublimation Technology

Hi, Nice to see you. In my last articles I have hared you about our many sublimation printing and transferring materials. Then in order to let you have a deeper understanding, today I will have a detailed introduction about the one step solution for the T-shirt produce with the sublimation technology.

Step 1 Printing
Have a personal produce with your T-shirt you should print the patterns you want firstly. Then with the technology of sublimation, you need to use the special sublimation ink, sublimation paper and sublimation printer. Take care when you choose the sublimation paper you should make sure the material of your fabric in the following transfer process. If your fabric is elasticity, such as cotton you should better choose the sticky sublimation paper. And if not you can just choose the fast dry sublimation paper.

Step 2 Transferring
After you print your patterns successfully, you need to transfer the patterns from the sublimation paper into the fabric. In the process, you need to use the rotary heat transfer machine. Put the sublimation paper above the fabric, and then under the high pressure and temperature your patterns will be transferred onto the fabric with vivid color. Also take care choose the right size and width of your machine. This width should better suitable for our fabric. While if you choose a large machine for your small size fabric, it will waste you lot money and electricity.

Step 3 Cutting
Finished the printing and transferring of the pattern, the next step is the cutting. Use the laser cutting machine, put the fabric transferred with patterns on the cutting machine and then the contour of the T-shirt will be cut in high efficiency and precision. Same attention with the rotary heat press machine, choose the right size and width of your machine. Apart from this, make sure how many beams and cutting head of this machine do you need. Whatever, double cutting head and beams will have a better working efficiency than the only one. Also the price would be higher.

Step 3 Sewing
With the cut and transferred T-shirt , the last step is the sewing. You only need to sew the fabric cut together with the sewing machine. And then your T-shirt will be produced successfully with good performance.

Okay, These all above are my introduction about the one step T-shirt produce with the sublimation technology. If you have any needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. Do You Know How to Solve The Common Problems in The Mug Sublimation Printing And Transferring?

Hi, Nice to see you. Did you make your own DIY before? Have you tried about the sublimation printing and transferring technology for the mug DIY transfer? If you have tried about it you must have met many kind of different problems in your DIY transfer process. Then today I will share you some tips about how to solve the common problems in the mug sublimation printing.

1.The image appears blurry

If the image is blurry, there’s a chance you may be over-pressing the mug, meaning the sublimation ink is gassing out and spreading over more area than it should. You can also tell  if you’re over-pressing the mug if the black colors appear brownish.

2.Pay attention to the time and temperature
If you find that you can’t print the mugs well, i think you should check the time and temperature at the first time. Most mug presses will require different times and temperatures for pressing mugs (and water bottles, steins, etc.).

3.The mugs turn to yellowish after printing
If you’re just getting yellow shading on the mug, there’s a good chance you’re actually using inkjet ink, not sublimation ink (which is required to sublimate onto mugs).

4.The black color turn to greenish
If the black colors in your image appear greenish after pressing, it usually means you’re under-pressing the mug.

5.Get the best color of your sublimation ink
Use an ICC profile or Power Driver when printing with sublimation inks in order to get the best color out of your sublimation ink.

6.The quality of the original image
The quality of the image on the mug may be poor because the actual image quality is poor. We suggest a DPI of 300 for sublimation printing

These all above are my share about the common problems in your mug sublimation printing. If you have any need or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you with the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you. Thank you for your reading.

How Can You Make Your Inkjet Sublimation Achieve The Best Effect ?

Hi, Nice to see you again. In the sublimation printing and transferring process, people always use the sublimation technology to transfer the patterns onto their clothes or fabric with vivid color. Then today I will share you some tips that can help you make your inkjet sublimation achieve the best effect.

Tip 1. Before you transfer your patterns onto the fabric with large quantity, you should better have a test with your sublimation paper and the heat press machine,So that you can make sure the temperature and time of the machine is the best for your pattern.
Tip 2. Before you transfer, make sure the sublimation paper with patterns is dry in case of the ghosting on your fabric.
Tip 3. Before the transfer, blow your fabric or textile, remove the fabric and transfer paper scraps, cilia and other attachments, so that these debris caught in paper and fabric caused by printing defects.
Tip 4. The ghost is often due to the pressure plate too fast separation, the upper pressure plate adsorption of ink jet sublimation transfer paper, then adjust the throttle to the plate heat transfer machine cylinder (or cylinder) to slow down the speed, to avoid Transfer of paper was sucked after the fall caused by the second sublimation transfer and ghosting. To avoid ghosting can also be dipped in the four corners of the thermal transfer paper adhesion of water transfer fabric.
Tip 5. As the floor of the cushion material (cotton, sponge, cardboard, etc.) in the
absorption of ink after the accumulation of moisture will lead to excessive water vapor when the transfer, so that the pattern on the transfer cloth color fades, local fog water, In the transfer before and during the transfer process to always empty a few times, the moisture on the cotton pad on the vapor evaporation, if the conditions can be replaced in time dry pad material to avoid this situation.

These all above are my share about the ways about how to make your inkjet sublimation achieve the best effect. If you have any needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you with the best quality product and service. Thank you for your reading.

How to Store Your Sublimation Paper in A Right Way ?

Hello, glad to see you. How is your sublimation printing going ? Sublimation paper is the basic material in the sublimation printing and transferring process. It can help us print and transfer the patterns onto many materials with vivid color. Then do you know how should we store our sublimation paper in a right way? The printed or not printed. Today I will share you some tips about how to store them in a right way.

Sublimation Paper Haven't Printed

Firstly,in the purchase of the transfer of paper, you need to observe the packaging to see if there are signs of crushing, if the carton appeared deformation, it is easy to affect the overall effect of the paper roll, so that the quality of printing Is not satisfactory.
Then,  in the usual preservation period, need to place in a ventilated place, to ensure that the transfer paper during use, reduce unnecessary trouble and distress.

Note: The shelf life of the sublimation paper is about 7 months. So before you buy the sublimation paper you should better make a plan and have a measure of your paper that actual use.

Sublimation paper has been printed
  A) Printed transfer paper, try to do rolling storage.
  B) Printed transfer paper, you can put a loose plastic bag roll up after the vertical, plastic bag opening in order to transfer paper in the water to the air volatile.
  C) Printed transfer paper is best stored in a low humidity environment (humidity ≤ 55% RH; temperature 15-30 ℃), which is conducive to transfer paper moisture evaporation.

  D) Printed transfer paper, generally require an hour after the transfer, try to store 5 hours after the transfer, until it can dry to transfer, if not dry to go to transfer, the paper Moisture at high temperatures will become a steam interference transfer effect, making a gas mist, color and so on. To ensure that each batch of pattern drying close to the same color. (If the transfer is done immediately after printing, the transfer rate will decrease.)

These all above is my share about how to store your sublimation paper in a right way. If you have any needs or questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you with the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you. Thank you for your reading.

Hi, Nice to see you again. Have you used about the Epson sublimation printer or sublimation ink? If you have used it before you must know about the special chip of the original Epson ink. But the original Epson sublimation ink always be expensive so in order to save the cost people always try to use the replacement sublimation ink. But only the replacement Epson sublimation ink is not enough. You should also use the CISS to help you finish the print and make your patterns better and vividly. Then how much do you know about the CISS? Read the following articles and you will get to know more.

The definition of CISS

CISS means the continuous ink supply system, it is a method for delivering a large volume of liquid ink to a comparatively small inkjet print head.Nowadays, more and more business and professional grade printers incorporate a continuous ink system in their design to increase printing capacity.

How Does CISS Work?
CISS has a number of external tanks that supply ink to the OEM ink cartridges, the number of which depends on how many cartridges a particular printer uses in standard form. At first CISS utilized ink bottles with a supply tube and an air filter. However, this design proved unable to provide a steady flow of ink and the bottles were replaced by vessels utilizing Mariotte’s Bottle principle, which provided the ability to provide a steady flow of ink to the print head regardless of the quantity of ink remaining in the vessel.

The advantages of using CISS
  1. Save up to 95% on printing costs (YES, up to 20 times cheaper !) compared with ordinary ink cartridges
  2. It is conveniently sold full with the ink equivalent of up to 28 sets of ordinary ink cartridges, and you will not refill it for a (very…) long time
  3. The printing quality is similar to that obtained from using ordinary cartridges

These all above is my introduction about the CISS and share about how to use it in the sublimation printing. If you have any needs o questions welcome to contact us at any time. We will provide you with the best quality product and service. Hope my article can be useful to you. Thank you for your reading.
