An Epson printer can be reset in various degrees, from activating a reset menu on the physical printer to installing utilities and resetting software on a computer.
Here I’d like to share with you the method of resetting flashing lights on Epson Stylus Photo 1270.
NOTICE:
*Read the manual of your printer first before starting any reset process.
*Your printer warranty may be invalidated if you reset ink pad counters and ink levels without using an Epson Customer Care Service Center
This procedure is thought to work for Stylus Photo 1270 type printer, and it’s likely that it also works for the 870 range and even earlier models like the Stylus Color 740.
Errors present with all four lights on the printer flashing and even the power switch is pressed,the lights continue flashing and the printer doesn’t turn off.
Tips:
1. Turn off your printer and make sure that the print head is at it’s home location and is locked in place as usual;
2. Power off the printer for at least 20 seconds;
3.If the lights come back on straight away and the printer’s power switch was ‘on’ when you restore power to the printer , switch it off and return to step 1;
4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down;
5.Release the buttons when the paper-out LED flashes;
6. Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button);
7. The printer is now ready to be reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.
