How to Transfer Images onto 100% Cotton T-shirt І

Generally,normal sublimation paper is designed for fabric that contains more than 60% polyester,and therefore,100% cotton T-shirt requires the special T-shirt transfer paper which can be divided into dark T-shirt paper(for dark T-shirt) and light T-shirt paper (for light T-shirt).

Images can be transferred to your cotton cloth either by iron or heat transfer machine.Here I'd like to introduce the steps of dark T-shirt transferring.

Instructions

Printing Instructions
1.Prepare your chosen image on the computer. 
2.Prepare your printer.Print the image onto the MATT side of the transfer paper.
3. Leave the image to dry for about 10 minutes and then cut off the printed part.

Transfer Instructions (for heat press machines)
-Preheat the heat press machine and set the temperature at around 180℃
-Preheat the garment for a few seconds to remove wrinkles and moisture.
-Peel off the base paper from the transfer paper and put the image on the textile with the printed side facing up.
-Put the isolation paper on the image 
-Heat for 15-30 seconds, then remove the textile from the machine after cooling down.

Transfer Instructions (for irons)
-Heat your iron (empty water) to maximum cotton setting for 3 minutes;
-Lay fabric on a hard, smooth surface.  
-Peel off the base paper from the transfer paper, and place the image on the fabric with printed side facing up.
-Place a piece of isolation paper over the image. 
-Place the heated iron on the isolation paper slightly for no more than 15 seconds to fix the image onto the fabric.  
- Iron for a further 60 seconds (maximum) evenly with slow circling movements from edge to edge ensuring heat is evenly transferred over the entire area.
-Peel isolation paper after cooling down.

Washing & Ironing
1.Wait 24 hours before washing for the first time.
2.Wash separately in cold water with garment turning inside out.
3.Turn garment inside out and avoid direct contact of the image with the iron.

How to Clean Printer Heads of Your Printer

When you use your inkjet printer, the ink ejected from the ink cartridge will travel through the nozzle of the cartridge,and then passes through the print head, applying the text and images to paper. After printing,around the opening to the print head,there will be bits of ink get dry and leading to poor printing quality,and even print head clog.

When we are faced with this problem,some of us may consider replacing the print heads,which can sometimes cost more than just buying a new printer.Fortunately, it's not difficult to clean the printer heads 
yourself.Therefore, before replacing your print head cartridges, try to clean them with this homemade print head cleaning solution that will clear away the dried ink and make your printer head last much longer.

STEPS:
1.Place a cone-shaped coffee filter with the pointy end down in the opening of a 1 lb. glass jar.
2.Place one drop of dish soap with no lotion or antibacterial additives into the coffee filter.(Do not use liquid automatic dishwasher detergent instead of liquid dish soap. It will permanently damage your print heads.)
3.Add 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol to the coffee filter.
4.Pour  1.5 cup of purified water through the coffee filter.
5.Screw the lid on tightly until ready to use.
6.When you are ready to use your print head cleaning solution, use an injector to inject the liquid into the nozzle of your print head .Use paper towels to soak up excess ink, and repeat until the print head is clean.

What Do You Know about Sublimation?

I've shared quite a few blogs on sublimation technology, but still some people are confused with the sublimation process，so it's necessary to understand sublimation for better understanding of the dye sublimation printing process.

Basically, the phase of a substance is determined by the scale of space between the substance's atoms.In a phase change, heat energy is either added or taken away from the atoms to make them spread apart or congregate together.Solids' atoms are packed most closely while gases' atoms are connected most loosely.Therefore，if we want to turn the solid to gas, we just have to add the heat pressure to let the atoms spread apart.

Process

During printing, printing head moves over the ribbons and the process is repeated four times . Since only one ribbon is heated at a time, the finished printing media actually has four layers of sublimation ink .Then during transfer process, the heat from the heat press machine excites the atoms in the dye contained in the printed image, and they spread apart and turn from the solid form to the gaseous form. The gaseous dye permeates the transfer substrates, and as the atoms lose energy, they come closer together again and return to solid states.

How to Apply Sublimation Over Fabrics

Dye sublimation is a process that allows manufacturers to transfer printed images from sublimation papers(specially coated paper) onto a variety of items including apparels, mugs,metal plates,ceramics and so on.In sublimation,special ink called sublimation ink and heat press machine are used to transfer images from sublimation paper onto various substrates .Sublimation ink is used because it is transferred from a solid state to a gaseous state without going through liquid form,ensuring a clean and precise transfer. Sublimation can be done easily and quickly over the most common fabrics,such as polyester,cotton and Lycra.Here I'd like to share with you the steps of sublimation on fabrics.

STEPS:

1.Load dye sublimation ink into an ink-jet printer. 2.Load the design you want to transfer into a graphic program on your computer.
3.Place a piece of white dye sublimation paper into your printer and print the design onto the paper and wait until the ink is dry.
4.Place the printed side on the textile, set the temperature of heat press machine at 200°C ~220°C for 20s-25s,and our paper will stick on the textile during this period.

5.After heating, wait until paper and textile are cool down and peel off the paper from the textile. You will find the image has been transferred to the textile clearly.

When you're choosing between pigment and dye inks,you'll find out that there are a lot of options out there when.So what is the difference between dye ink and pigment ink?

Pigment ink is not necessarily water soluble, but it may remain suspended in liquid. Pigment particles tend to bond to edges within the chosen substrate,and that's why it tends to last longer and resists fading over time.If you are printing an important image or document that have to last for a long time, pigment inks are your best choice.

Dye-based ink is cheaper and water soluble.It has great color vibrancy and color brightness because various optical compounds are added to dye ink to enhance the color.Dye ink may not last as long as pigment ink,but it's much more cheaper and it has a better performance in color saturation and is widely used in sublimation printing and outdoor advertisements.

How to Reset an Epson Chip

Most Epson cartridges are equipped with a special "smart" ink cartridge chip that detects when the ink cartridges are running low and gives alerts when the cartridges are empty, warning the users to replace them with new ones.

However, original Epson ink cartridges are pretty expensive and it’s indeed a great cost if we replace the cartridges frequently. Therefore,refilling ink cartridges can be a great way to cut costs as well as protect the environment.These "smart" chips require a special tool --chip resetters, to be reset, otherwise the cartridge will not recognize that it has been refilled and the printer will not work properly. Smart chips are much more cheaper than new cartridges and they can be purchased online and the procedure is quite simple.

1.Wipe down the Epson ink-jet cartridge that you are going to reset with a paper towel. Pay particular attention to the copper nodes on the back end cause this is where you will attach the chip resetter.

2.Clip the chip resetter to the back of your cartridge. Make sure the end with the button of the resetter is on the top.

3.Press and hold the button on top of the chip resetter for 5to 10 seconds. This will restore the OEM default settings back to your cartridge. The small LED light on some models of chip resetter may turn green when the chip has been reset. The printer will now recognize it as full until the cartridge runs out again.

4.Press the release clip on the bottom of the chip resetter to remove it from the cartridge. 

Alright, now you can use your printer freely.

Do You Know How to Trick Epson Ink Cartridges

Epson printers are equipped with maintenance processes that count the number of pages for ink usage and alert the user when the ink cartridges are running low. Quickly, the printer will stop working until it gets a new cartridge.

However,in most cases, users notice that the printers can not calculate the ink level accurately and the printers always stop working even with at least 25% ink in the cartridge, forcing customers to discard the cartridge that can still be used and buy a new expensive replacement. The good news is, that we have worked out a solution to this problem--trick our printers.
You may be confused by the word “trick”. In fact, it’s quite simple, since all you have to do is lead the printer into thinking a new cartridge has been installed so the remaining ink can still be used.

Here I will introduce the solution in details.
1.Open up the Epson printer cover with the power on, then wait until the carriage has stopped sliding back and forth.
2.Remove all ink cartridges by squeezing the tabs on the short ends of each cartridge and lifting straight out.
3.Turn off the printer and wait for it to shut down completely.
4.Cut off the power of the printer and wait at least five minutes for the printer memory to reset.
5.Shake each cartridge for a few seconds to redistribute the ink inside.
6.Clean the nozzles in the printer housing underneath the cartridges with a swab that has been marinated in rubbing alcohol.
6.Wait for the alcohol to evaporate completely and then re-install the cartridges in the same order as each was removed.
7.Restore power to the Epson and print a page for test.

How to Reset Flashing Lights Error Condition on Epson Printer

Users sometimes will face with the problem that the printer stops printing and all the lights start flashing. Different printer models may have different descriptions of this problem, but it seems to be generally described as a ‘Unknown Printer Error’.This may present a challenge to some users with a specific setup, such as a continuous ink system, refilled cartridges, or image printing.
An Epson printer can be reset in various degrees, from activating a reset menu on the physical printer to installing utilities and resetting software on a computer.

Here I’d like to share with you the method of resetting flashing lights on Epson Stylus Photo 1270.

NOTICE:

*Read the manual of your printer first before starting any reset process.

*Your printer warranty may be invalidated if you reset ink pad counters and ink levels without using an Epson Customer Care Service Center 

This procedure is thought to work for Stylus Photo 1270 type printer, and it’s likely that it also works for the 870 range and even earlier models like the Stylus Color 740.

Errors present with all four lights on the printer flashing and even the power switch is pressed,the lights continue flashing and the printer doesn’t turn off.

 Tips:

1. Turn off your printer and make sure that the print head is at it’s home location and is locked in place as usual;

2. Power off the printer for at least 20 seconds;

3.If the lights come back on straight away and the printer’s power switch was ‘on’ when you restore power to the printer , switch it off and return to step 1;

4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down;

5.Release the buttons when the paper-out LED flashes;

6. Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button);

7. The printer is now ready to be reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.
